Ghanaian boxer Theophilus Allotey defeated his Namibian opponent, Jonas Erastus, to claim the WBA Africa Gold Super Flyweight title during the Legacy Rise Sports fight card on April 10, 2026.

Allotey began the fight cautiously, studying his opponent and reluctant to throw punches, while Erastus pressed forward in search of openings.

After the first two rounds, when both fighters had tested each other’s approach, Erastus began mounting pressure with a series of punches. However, most of his attempts were successfully dodged.

Subsequently, Allotey came out of his shell and unleashed heavy punches, which overwhelmed his opponent and even forced out his mouthguard.

His persistence paid off as Erastus was unable to withstand the barrage. A final blow sent him to the canvas, and the referee’s assessment declared him unfit to continue, awarding Allotey victory by Technical Knockout.

This triumph marks the first time Allotey has clinched the vacant WBA Africa Gold Super Flyweight title, adding another accolade to his career.

Allotey currently holds the WBO Africa Bantamweight title (2025), the WBO Africa Super Flyweight title (2025), and the National & UBO African title in Ghana—all achievements that began with his bronze medal win at the 2023 African Games.

The Legacy Rise Sports fight card attracted numerous personalities from the sporting, political, and entertainment fraternities, who came to support boxing in Ghana.

Sports minister Kofi Adams, NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture John Dumelo, Dr Likee, Asamoah Gyan, and several others were all in attendance at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
