At the forecourt of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation in Accra, anticipation gave way to celebrations on Thursday, March 26, 2026, as Ghana officially unveiled the first two winners of its much-talked-about 2026 World Cup raffle initiative.

The event, led by Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, marked a significant step in a nationwide campaign designed to rally support, both financial and emotional, behind the Black Stars ahead of the global showpiece in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Standing at the heart of the moment were Philip Atta Frempong and Habib Basiru, the first beneficiaries of the all-expenses-paid trip to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Their names, drawn through the Ministry’s raffle system, instantly transformed them from hopeful participants into ambassadors of fan passion.

Both winners could barely contain their excitement as they addressed the gathering.

With broad smiles and visible disbelief, they spoke of the rare opportunity to travel to the United States and cheer on the Black Stars from the stands, an experience many fans can only dream of.

For them, it was more than just a prize; it was a chance to represent Ghanaian supporters on football’s biggest stage.

The raffle forms part of a broader fundraising drive spearheaded by the Ministry, aimed at mobilizing resources to support the Black Stars’ World Cup campaign and other national sporting initiatives.

Beyond funding, the initiative is also crafted to unite Ghanaians behind a common goal, seeing the national team thrive on the world stage.
