The management of Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko has issued a public apology to its fans for the delay in appointing a permanent coach to lead the club.

The club acknowledged that recent performances have been abysmal but assured supporters that they are working diligently behind the scenes to appoint a substantive coach who can restore the team to glory.

In a statement released on April 15, 2026, management urged fans to exercise restraint as they embark on a rigorous process to select a new coach.

“The board and management of Asante Kotoko SC acknowledge the concerns raised by our supporters regarding the absence of a substantive head coach and the team’s recent poor results. We fully understand the expectations that come with representing this great club.”

“The board is actively working to appoint a competent substantive head coach whose philosophy aligns with the long-term ambitions of the club. We kindly ask for your patience as we take the necessary time to identify the right candidate,” the statement signed by the club’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, read.

The club also apologized for the team’s poor results, which are likely to lead to a trophyless season, and appealed to fans to continue supporting the club during these difficult times.

“We continue to sincerely apologise for the disappointing performances in recent matches. We want to assure our cherished supporters that decisive steps are being taken to restore the club to its rightful standards. The future of this club remains our top priority, and we are committed to making the right choices moving forward. In the meantime, we call for your unwavering support and loyalty for the remaining matches of the season,” the statement added.

This apology comes in response to mounting pressure from supporters after Kotoko’s humiliating 4-0 loss to Medeama in the Ghana Premier League under interim coach Prince Owusu.

The club currently sits sixth on the league table with 43 points.
