Kojo Addae-Mensah is the CEO of Databank
Ghanaian sports analyst cum businessman, Kojo Addae-Mensah has called on the public to desist from criticisms and support Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He explained that he has heard individuals questioning the Portuguese coach’s age, tactical approach, and ability to deliver a trophy for the team.
“I have heard people saying, 73, does he have the same energy? People are already looking for where the loophole is. When he was sitting by Alex Ferguson at that time, football was way different from what it is now. Is it the Alex Ferguson template? We are pulling out the numbers, seriously, 25% World Cup winners. They are already quoting number of goals scored, number of goals conceded. I’m like, no, no,” Kojo Addae fumed while speaking on Sporty FM.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Data Bank rejected such claims, stressing that negative comments are unnecessary at a time when the coach has yet to settle down and hasn’t played any matches.
He emphasized that he is confident Queiroz will be his own man and make decisions that will help the team thrive without bowing to interference.
“Look, we are all going to spend some really good money to go out there to the US to watch the World Cup. We want to go into the stands and not sit there with silent faces. We want to go there and be able to celebrate like we did in 2010, and even 2014, it wasn’t bad in 2006. Let’s support the guy. Let’s trust in whatever process he will start with.”
“Let’s not go out looking for criticism. What he’s done right, he should have called this guy, he didn’t call this guy, is it the GFA that are calling for him, is he his own man? But history has it that in 2002, when he qualified South Africa, we are told that some interference was coming through and he said, hell no, I’m not going to do that. And he walked away,” he added.
