Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Rob Edwards has confirmed an altercation between striker Tolu Arokodare and team-mate Mateus Mane, insisting the incident has been resolved as the club continue preparations following their relegation from the Premier League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Speaking on Friday, Edwards moved to downplay the situation, explaining that the matter had been handled internally and does not reflect any deeper issues within the squad.

“That was a couple of weeks ago. Not uncommon. We dealt with it and we have moved on from it,” he said, as quoted by the BBC.

The Wolves manager acknowledged that emotions can run high in a challenging season, particularly in a competitive dressing room, but maintained that the squad remains united.

“There is a lot of passion and sometimes things can get physical,” Edwards added.

“We have a group that cares. They are a tight group and sometimes things can spill over. I’ve got no problem with any of the individuals.”

According to talkSPORT, the confrontation took place after Wolves’ 4–0 defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium on April 10, a result that compounded a difficult campaign and heightened tensions within the squad.

Arokodare, who featured for 19 minutes in that match, was reportedly involved in a dressing room bust-up with Mane, with frustration spilling over before team-mates and staff intervened.

The 25-year-old Nigerian international, who joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk in a £23m deal last summer, has scored three goals in 28 Premier League appearances this season. His most recent goal came in a 2–2 draw with Brentford on March 16.

He was an unused substitute in the club’s subsequent 3–0 defeat by Leeds United, with both players named on the bench at Elland Road, as Wolves’ struggles continued in a season that ultimately ended in relegation.

talkSPORT added that Arokodare will leave Molineux this summer despite having four years remaining on his contract, with the incident adding to uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

Wolves host Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland in their next two matches before travelling to Brighton on May 9.
