Kofi Adams is the Minister of Sports and Recreation
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has disclosed that the Auditor-General’s Department has finalized its investigation into the 2023 African Games scandal.
He indicated that the report has been submitted to the Attorney-General, who is also reviewing it to resolve certain issues before announcing the outcome to the public.
Speaking in an interview with Adom FM, Kofi Adams assured that details of the investigation will be made public to uphold accountability, as promised by the government.

“I think the auditors have finished their work and submitted their report. Very soon we will hear from the Attorney-General on what it is and the way forward,” he said.
When asked about the delay in fast-tracking the probe, Kofi Adams responded: “Yes, it has delayed, but if you want to build a good case you must take steps to do things properly.”
This comes after reports emerged that the government allocated $47 million to the operational budget for the 2023 African Games, hosted from March 8 to March 23, 2024.
It was alleged that $15 million was spent on feeding officials and athletes. Former sports minister Mustapha Ussif was invited by the National Investigative Bureau (NIB) for questioning; however, the details were not made public.
Some football fans expressed disappointment at the slow pace of the investigations, noting that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had promised during its campaign to hold corrupt officials accountable.
