Ghana Athletics has issued a formal response to concerns raised by sprinter Saminu Abdul Rasheed regarding travel and pre-competition arrangements at the recent World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana.

In a press release dated May 3, the association congratulated Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team for their impressive showing at the event, where they secured qualification for the World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027.

However, Ghana Athletics also acknowledged issues raised by athletes, particularly around logistical and preparation challenges ahead of competition.

The federation admitted full responsibility, stressing the importance of proper planning and optimal conditions for elite performance.

“GA takes full responsibility for these concerns and acknowledges the importance of proper preparation conditions for elite performance,” the statement said.

The association further assured stakeholders that it will work closely with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to address the shortcomings and implement improved systems to prevent a recurrence.

Despite the challenges, Ghana Athletics praised the relay team for their resilience and commitment to national duty.
