Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye has called for Eddie Nketiah's inclusion in Black Stars squad for World Cup
Former Minister of Health, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, has said that the Black Stars will have a formidable team for the 2026 World Cup if they include players like Eddie Nketiah.
According to him, the Crystal Palace forward is an experienced player whose striking qualities are similar to Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan and could produce magic on the field.
The former Ledzokuku Member of Parliament indicated that Nketiah’s inclusion would strengthen the squad and emphasised that he cannot be blocked from joining simply because he did not participate in the qualifiers.

“Recently, I appealed for the inclusion of Nketiah, who used to play for Arsenal. He is like Asamoah Gyan, he can play upfront and score. We need someone like that.
"I asked if he could come on board, and I was told there is no policy blocking him. If we get one or two of these players and go to the World Cup, we can match any team,” he said on Metro TV.
Dr Okoe-Boye further rejected claims that players who did not take part in the qualifiers should not be called up, urging for a policy that allows flexibility ahead of the Mundial.
“My prayer is that we don’t say, ‘If you didn’t play, then you can’t join.’ The world is not fair, and that’s how it operates. You can’t say that because you played in the qualification, no one else should come in. There are players who join at the last hour. I want us to have an open policy so that we can go to the World Cup with the strongest possible team,” he added.
