Head coach of the Black Princesses, Charles Sampson, said his side has taken key lessons from their comeback victory over Uganda in the ongoing U-20 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Reacting after the game, Sampson admitted that the performance exposed some weaknesses the team must address moving forward.
“We’ve learned a lot from this game. It’s good that we came back to win, but we can’t always put ourselves in that situation,” he said.
The coach highlighted the team’s resilience and fighting spirit but stressed the need for better concentration, especially in the early stages of matches.
“The character was there, the girls showed they can respond under pressure, but we need to start games better and stay focused throughout,” he added.
He noted that the match serves as an important learning curve as the team continues its preparations, insisting that improvements in organization and decision-making will be crucial.
The Black Princesses will now shift focus to their next challenge, hoping to build on the positives while correcting the lapses identified in the Uganda clash.
