L-R: Solomon Agbasi, Razak Simpson, Ebenezer Abban and Salim Adams are local players
Six local players have earned call-ups to the Black Stars squad for the friendly game against Mexico ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The players include two goalkeepers: Solomon Agbasi of Accra Hearts of Oak and Gideon Aseako of Dreams FC, both in contention to guard the posts.
In defense, Nations FC’s Razak Simpson, returning after a long absence, joins Ebenezer Adade of Dreams FC and Ebenezer Abban of Heart of Lions.
BREAKING: Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz announces squad for Mexico friendly
Midfielder Salim Adams has also been given the opportunity to compete for a spot in the team following his impressive performances with Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.
It is worth noting that the 23-man squad features several new faces and players who are not regulars, as many of the usual names were omitted.
It is believed that Queiroz intends to give these players the chance to justify their inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and strengthen the team.
The squad is composed of star players from both the domestic league and European leagues, closely monitored by Queiroz, as well as U-23 players who will soon represent Ghana in the upcoming Olympic Games qualifiers.
Ghana will travel to Mexico for the international friendly on Friday, May 22, 2026.
Local players in the squad:
Goalkeepers: Solomon Agbasi (Accra Hearts of Oak), Gideon Aseako (Dreams FC)
Defenders: Ebenezer Adade (Dreams FC), Razak Simpson (Nations FC), Ebenezer Abban (Heart of Lions)
Midfielder: Salim Adams (Medeama SC)
