Residents of Beposo in the Asunafo South District have welcomed the start of construction on an ultra-modern sports complex expected to become the first facility of its kind in the area.
The project was officially launched by Isaac Paintsil Foundation and Blaze Investment with a sod-cutting ceremony attended by community members and stakeholders. Construction works are expected to be handled by a sports infrastructure firm with experience in developing sporting facilities across the country.
The initiative is aimed at creating opportunities for young people in rural communities, particularly those with sporting talent. Organizers say the facility will help nurture young athletes while also supporting education and personal development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Country Director Bishop Charles Appiah said the project forms part of broader efforts to support youth development in underserved communities.
“Our objective is to raise young people from rural areas and provide them with training through sports and education to help them achieve their goals. Starting with what we are doing in Beposo around Sankore, we hope to positively shape the future of the younger generation,” he said.
Chief Executive Officer Alhaji Salifu Sinkare assured residents that the project would be delivered to high standards.
“This project is about building a facility that will stand the test of time. Quality remains our hallmark, and we are committed to delivering infrastructure that meets international standards,” he stated.
The sports complex is expected to include a FIFA-standard astro turf, floodlights, seating area, changing rooms, tartan tracks, and a multipurpose court.
Residents believe the facility could help promote sports development in the district while creating opportunities for young talents to grow and compete at higher levels.
