The club argues that the Disciplinary Committee erred in law and fact
Keta FC have officially appealed the decision of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) Disciplinary Committee following the club’s recent Middle League controversy involving Yingor FC.
In a Notice and Grounds of Appeal filed against the VRFA Disciplinary Committee’s ruling in Case No. VRFA/DC/031/26 dated May 27, 2026, Keta FC is seeking to overturn the Committee’s decision relating to the club’s participation in its Middle League fixture against Yingor FC.
The club argues that the Disciplinary Committee erred in law and fact by retroactively applying Article 37(8)(c) of the GFA Regional Football Associations Leagues Regulations after the match had already been officially organized, supervised, and completed under the authority of the Regional Football Association.
Keta FC further contends that it was duly allowed to participate in the match without any prior suspension notice, enforcement directive, or communication barring the club from taking part in the competition before kickoff.
The appeal also challenges the locus of Yingor FC in filing the protest, with Keta FC arguing that matters relating to outstanding fines or penalties payable to the RFA could only properly be enforced by the RFA itself and not by a competing club.
According to the appeal, the club had communicated to the RFA that monies owed to Keta FC arising from a rescheduled match should be used to offset any outstanding fines. The club claims the Disciplinary Committee failed to adequately investigate this explanation before reaching its decision.
Keta FC additionally argues that the Committee improperly conflated financial indebtedness with sporting ineligibility and imposed what it describes as an excessive and disproportionate sanction by ordering continuous forfeiture of accumulated points until payment of the alleged fines.
The club maintains that the retroactive annulment of a completed fixture undermines fairness, sporting certainty, procedural predictability, and confidence in the administration of football in the Volta Region.
Among the reliefs being sought, Keta FC is requesting an order setting aside the VRFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision, restoring the sporting result of the match played against Yingor FC on May 26, 2026, and staying execution of the disciplinary ruling pending determination of the appeal.
The latest development adds to growing discussions surrounding governance, disciplinary procedures, and administrative transparency within football administration in the Volta Region.
