Keta FC CEO issues clarification on open letter to GFA President

Founder and CEO of Keta FC, Enyonam Apetorgbor, has issued a clarification following reactions to her recent open letter addressed to Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku concerning developments within the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) and the ongoing Middle League.

In a rejoinder released under the title “Clarification on Open Letter Regarding the Integrity of Volta Football Administration,” Apetorgbor stated that the earlier communication was intended strictly as a public-interest appeal for fairness, transparency, due process, and stronger institutional oversight in the administration of football in the Volta Region.

According to the statement, the open letter was not meant to defame, malign, accuse, or injure the reputation of any specific individual, football official, club, sponsor, or institution.

The clarification further explained that references made in the original letter to concerns about privileged access, financial influence, administrative interference, and stakeholder unease were raised within the broader context of governance risk and public confidence and should not be interpreted as definitive findings of wrongdoing against any person or office.

Apetorgbor reaffirmed her respect for the Ghana Football Association, the Volta Regional Football Association, football administrators, sponsors, clubs, and all stakeholders contributing to the development of the game.

The statement also emphasised that sponsorship and investment in football remain important but must coexist with fairness, neutrality, and the equal application of the rules.

“The central concern remains simple: Volta football must be protected from any perception, allegation, or practice that undermines confidence in competition outcomes, disciplinary processes, protest procedures, or administrative decisions,” the statement noted.

The rejoinder called on stakeholders to view the original open letter as a constructive appeal for accountability rather than a personal attack, adding that if any expression in the earlier communication created a contrary impression, “that was neither the intention nor the purpose.”

Apetorgbor concluded by reaffirming her commitment to lawful expression, responsible public advocacy, respect for football institutions, and the continued development of Ghanaian football.

The latest statement comes amid ongoing debate surrounding governance, transparency, and disciplinary procedures within football administration in the Volta Region.
