Kofi Adams (L) and Andre Ayew (R)
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has said he is yet to seek an explanation from Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz over the omission of former captain Andre Ayew from Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Andre was excluded from Ghana’s squad for the World Cup preparation camp and friendly against Wales.
Speaking in an interview with TV3, the minister admitted that he does not know whether Ayew was considered for selection before the final squad was announced.
“I don’t know. I’ve not spoken to him and I’ve not asked the coach on what was the basis of what he has done,” he said.

The minister explained that he has not had the opportunity to discuss the squad with Queiroz since it was made public, adding that such a conversation is expected to happen in the near future.
“Since the release of the squad we have not spoken, but I will have the opportunity of meeting with him,” he added.
