Black Stars forward, Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed confidence and excitement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stating that the current squad is determined to write a new chapter in Ghana's football history.

Speaking after Ghana's recent outing, the striker acknowledged the challenges and disappointments the national team has endured in recent years but stressed that the players are motivated to surpass previous achievements on the global stage.

According to Thomas-Asante, the Black Stars are eager to "complete the story" and make amends for past setbacks by delivering strong performances at the tournament.

"Of course, we know that we've had moments where the world has been behind us seeing the tough things we've been through as a team. We feel like there's a story to complete and we want to step forward and right the wrongs," he said.

The forward also highlighted the influence and encouragement the current squad has received from former Black Stars players, describing their presence around the team as a major morale booster.

"We are lucky to have the support of the previous generation. The likes of Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan and John Paintsil have been around the camp and that means a lot to us as players," he noted.

Thomas-Asante further revealed that representing Ghana at the World Cup is a lifelong dream that is finally becoming a reality.

"I've been praying for this opportunity since I was a young child. To have this chance is incredible and I'm so grateful. Part of that gratitude is shown by performing on the pitch, preparing well and giving our best," he added.
