The mood in Ghana’s World Cup camp took a lighter turn as head coach Carlos Queiroz put his players through an unexpected test, not on the training pitch, but on their knowledge of Ghana’s football history.

In a video shared by the Ghana Football Association, the Black Stars squad was divided into groups as Queiroz conducted an interactive quiz session aimed at reminding the players of the rich legacy they represent.

The exercise sparked plenty of laughter and friendly competition, with players eager to prove they knew their nation’s football story.

Among the questions asked was the year Ghana won its first Africa Cup of Nations title. Defender Gideon Mensah quickly stepped up with the correct answer, identifying 1963 as the year the Black Stars lifted their maiden continental crown.

Another question focused on Ghana’s best-ever World Cup performance. Captain Jordan Ayew answered correctly, pointing to the historic 2010 campaign in South Africa when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals and came within a penalty shootout of becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals.

The quiz was more than just entertainment. It served as a reminder of the achievements of previous generations and the standards set by those who wore the national colours before them.

As Ghana continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the session offered a blend of education, team bonding and motivation.
