Prince Tagoe is a former Black Stars striker
Former Ghana international Prince Tagoe has described the Black Stars' heartbreaking quarter-final defeat to Uruguay at the 2010 FIFA World Cup as the most emotional moment of his national team career.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Tagoe reflected on Ghana’s dramatic exit from the tournament in South Africa, admitting the painful loss remains difficult to forget.
According to Tagoe, the squad was fully convinced they could secure victory and make history by becoming the first African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final.

"We never thought of even losing that game," he recalled, adding that every player gave everything on the pitch before Ghana eventually fell in the penalty shootout.
Tagoe noted that the defeat was especially painful because of the spirit within the team and the sacrifices made throughout the tournament. However, he acknowledged that football comes with both triumphs and disappointments.

"Everybody gave it all. It was just a very bad day. We just have to accept it as footballers," he said.
Ghana's quarter-final clash against Uruguay remains one of the most memorable matches in World Cup history, with the Black Stars narrowly missing out on a place in the last four after a dramatic encounter that was decided on penalties at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
