Herve Renard is a top coach in Africa
Tunisian Football Federation has appointed Hervé Renard as their new head coach for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi.
The Tunisians announced that the former Saudi Arabia manager will lead the team until the conclusion of the tournament.
Renard brings significant international experience, having guided Morocco at the 2018 World Cup in their first appearance since 1998, and leading Saudi Arabia to a shock group-stage victory over eventual champions Argentina in 2022.

He also coached France during the 2023 Women’s World Cup, overseeing a run to the quarter-finals. Renard has built a reputation for making an impact with multiple teams across international football.
This appointment comes after Lamouchi was dismissed following Tunisia’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their World Cup match on June 15, 2026.
The team’s performance on the day was abysmal, with players struggling to find their rhythm, resulting in a heavy loss.
Under Lamouchi’s tenure, Tunisia played five games, scoring just one goal, recording one victory and one draw, suffering three defeats, and conceding 11 goals.
After the first round of matches in Group F, Sweden leads with three points. Japan and the Netherlands follow with a point each after their 1-1 draw, while Tunisia sits bottom with zero points.
