Two time World Champions France will host African giants Senegal at the MetLife Stadium for their opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, June 16.
This is a clash between the world's third-ranked team, France, and Senegal, Africa's second-highest-ranked nation. Despite the ranking gap, Senegal famously defeated France 1-0 in their opening match at the 2002 World Cup.

Senegal’s Ismaïla Sarr arrives on the back of winning the Conference League with Crystal Palace and has scored his nation’s first goal of the game in seven of his last eight international scoring appearances.
