Ghanaian media personality, Ako Gunn, has expressed sympathy for Black Stars midfielder, Thomas Partey, following reports that the footballer had been denied a visa to Canada.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on June 15, 2026, Ako Gunn said the situation could have a significant psychological impact on the player, especially given the public attention surrounding the issue.

According to him, athletes are also human beings and can be affected emotionally when their names become linked to controversies or challenges beyond the field of play.
“Partey is a sports person, and I pray for strength for him. Whoever you are, the moment your name is associated with something, it affects you psychologically. It is my prayer that he should get an internal force within himself to quicken his spirit,” he said.
Ako Gunn also weighed in on the broader conversation surrounding the Black Stars, stressing that football coaches have different approaches to managing their teams and should be allowed the space to implement their strategies.
“Every Coach has their own strategy in coaching a team,” he said.
He further lamented what he described as growing negativity around football discussions, suggesting that constant criticism could affect the game.
“Most people have lost interest in the World Cup because the complaints are too much,” he said.
