The Nungua Gborbu Wulomo, Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, is expected to officially launch the 2026 GaDangme Homowo Festival and the GaDangme Youth Sports Festival and Tourism in Accra.

The event will be graced by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, alongside the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, and several other distinguished personalities.

The festival, themed “Unity, Peace and Development in the GaDangme States,” aims to celebrate GaDangme culture, strengthen community bonds, and promote sustainable development across GaDangme communities.

It is being organized by the GaDangme Unity Organization in collaboration with Sports Education and Management, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC).

Other notable personalities expected to attend include the Member of Parliament for Krowor Constituency, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey; the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George; the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams; the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Gomashie; the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sawah and the Minister of Youth Development and Employment, George Opare Addo.

As part of activities marking the festival, organizers will stage a special charity football match dubbed the “GaDangme Unity and Peace Festival Cup.”

The match will feature Nungua Town XI against Kpone Kpelejoo Stars.

The much-anticipated encounter is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the Nungua Town Park at 3:00 p.m.

It will be officially kicked off by Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, the Nungua Gborbu Wulomo, and Dr. Hugh C. Brown.

Organizers say the football match is intended to promote unity, peace and social cohesion among GaDangme communities while using sports and tourism as platforms for cultural expression and national development.

The 2026 GaDangme Homowo Festival, which incorporates the GaDangme Youth Sports Festival and Tourism activities, is expected to serve as a platform for celebrating GaDangme heritage, promoting tourism and fostering stronger relationships among communities within the GaDangme States.
