Fans show support to Benjamin Asare at his residence
Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare received massive support in Ghana following his performance in the Black Stars’ goalless draw against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite criticisms and concerns about the local goalkeeper’s ability to perform at the tournament, he has been brilliant in the games he has played so far.
He came on in the second half against Panama, kept the post secure, and recorded a clean sheet in Ghana’s 1-0 win.

Facing a star-studded English side, the Hearts of Oak goalie maintained his composure throughout the game and made crucial saves.
The standout moment came when he denied Bukayo Saka’s strike, a shot that often beats top European goalkeepers, earning applause from fans. He finished the game with a rating of 7/10, despite not facing many shots.
His performances thrilled supporters back home in Ghana, who took to the streets to celebrate his heroics and hail him.
Some fans even carried the celebration to Asare’s family residence in Accra to show their support and appreciation for his efforts with the national team.
Asare is expected to start in goal for Ghana’s final group game against Croatia, with the team on the verge of securing qualification to the next stage.
