British sports radio personality Andy Jacobs has called for laws to punish teams that deploy low-block tactics during matches, following the Black Stars’ 0-0 draw against England.
The Black Stars defended in numbers, frustrating the Three Lions, who struggled to break down Ghana’s defense and score.
Despite plaudits for Ghana’s solidity and organization at the back, there has been criticisms of the low-block approach, which some argue took away the excitement of the game.

Addressing the issue, Jacobs argued that such defensive tactics are harmful to football and should be curtailed by authorities.
He suggested introducing regulations to bar teams from playing low-block and even proposed awarding a penalty as punishment, to ensure matches remain entertaining for fans.
"If all 48 teams played like that, football wouldn’t exist. I just can’t stand it. I’d like to see the low block outlawed. Basically, if you defend with more than five players in your last 30 yards, it’s a penalty," Jacobs fumed while speaking on talkSPORT.
Meanwhile, his comments have sparked backlash from fans, who pointed out that England themselves have used similar tactics to win games.
