The football world is mourning the heartbreaking death of promising Venezuelan youngster, Yimvert Berroteran, who lost his life following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. He was just 18 years old.

Berroteran, a member of Venezuela’s Under-17 national team and a player for Universidad Central, was reportedly trapped beneath collapsed debris when the powerful earthquake struck.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly for more than 24 hours in a desperate attempt to reach the teenage footballer, but their efforts ended in tragedy.

Journalist Jair Pineda confirmed the devastating news on X, on June 26, 2026, revealing that Berroteran did not survive despite the lengthy rescue operation.

His body was eventually recovered from the rubble after rescuers battled against time in hopes of saving the talented youngster.

The earthquakes have caused widespread destruction across parts of Venezuela, with reports indicating that more than 900 people have lost their lives.

Berroteran’s death has added to the immense grief felt across the country, particularly within the football community.

Widely regarded as one of Venezuela’s brightest young prospects, Berroteran represented his country at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup last year, where he showcased his potential on the international stage.

His performances earned him recognition as one of the nation’s emerging talents, raising hopes that he would one day progress to the senior national team.

Instead, a career filled with promise has been cut short.

Tributes have continued to pour in for the teenager from teammates, coaches and supporters as Venezuela mourns both a national tragedy and the loss of one of its rising stars.
