Hundreds of Ghana fans were left devastated on Saturday, June 27, 2026, after being denied entry to the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup clash against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field, despite some having travelled over 5,000 miles from Accra to support their team.

According to The Athletic, a large group of supporters gathered outside the stadium ahead of kick-off, expecting entry arrangements to be handled by a fan association representative.

However, confusion quickly set in as no one appeared with the promised tickets, leaving many stranded on the sidewalks outside the venue.

Some fans claimed they had been told tickets had been secured for the group, while others suggested they may have been resold on a secondary market.

One disappointed supporter told The Athletic she believed the allocated tickets never reached the group as intended.

As kick-off approached, security at the gates increased significantly, with police presence first doubling and then tripling.

Officers at the scene described their deployment as a “precaution” and for “security reasons,” as tensions began to rise among the waiting fans.

While most supporters remained calm, scrolling on their phones, other converged in groups, trying to find solutions.

There were brief moments of tension between a small number of fans and police officers as frustration grew over the missing tickets.

Despite hopes that entry would eventually be granted, no tickets materialised.

Roughly 30 minutes after the match had already begun, police cleared the area entirely, instructing the remaining Ghana supporters to move away from the gates and head back toward the parking lots.
