Mario Balotelli, has declared his support for Ghana during their World Cup clash with Croatia on Saturday, June 27, 2026, describing the Black Stars as his team of choice in the absence of Italy.

The former Italian international, who was on punditry duty for Men in Blazers, revealed his emotional connection to Ghana, hinting at his African roots while openly backing the Black Stars during the high-stakes Group L encounter.

“There is no Italy. So, obviously, I support Ghana. I’m from Ghana. I’m proud of them,” Balotelli said.

Ghana entered the match knowing their qualification for the Round of 32 was already secured.

Ghana falls 2-1 to Croatia despite booking round of 32 spot

The Black Stars, who eventually fell 2-1 to Croatia after a late Nikola Vlasic winner, still advanced from the group despite the defeat.

Ghana will now face Colombia for a spot in the round of 16 on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
