Former Asante Kotoko head coach, Isaac Opeele Boateng, has said that he does not see any clear distinction between Carlos Queiroz and Otto Addo as Black Stars coaches.

According to him, Otto Addo did not prove his competency as a coach, and he used to criticize him heavily for that.

However, he now believes the performance of the two coaches appear similar or almost the same.

The coach went on to state that Carlos Queiroz’ ability to get the best out of what he described as one of the worst Black Stars teams in history gives him an edge over the former Borussia Dortmund scout.

He noted that the team’s performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they secured qualification to the Round of 32, are impressive given the limited time and the state of the team prior to Queiroz’s appointment.

"Don’t get me wrong. Otto Addo was not good. I used to criticize him, but I don’t see any difference between Carlos and Addo. The only difference is Carlos making good use of the worst Black Stars team we have ever seen in history at the World Cup. That gives Carlos a plus," he wrote on X on June 28, 2026.

Coach Opeele further highlighted Otto Addo’s free-flowing attacking football, which allowed the Black Stars to score more goals in matches.

"Otto Addo scored five goals at the World Cup 2022. Otto Addo is the only coach to score three goals in 90 minutes at the World Cup. You think if you don’t play free-flowing attack you can score five goals in a group stage?" he quizzed.

His assertion was questioned by some fans, who believe he is contradicting himself, but the coach maintained his position.
