Kofi Adams is the Minister of Sports and Recreation
Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams has rejected allegations that Ghana’s free World Cup tickets were being sold in supermarkets in the United States, insisting such claims were impossible because FIFA issued the tickets electronically.
The Minister addressed the controversy after reports and social media claims suggested that tickets allocated by the Ghanaian government for Black Stars supporters had ended up being sold instead of reaching fans.
Speaking on Sporty Breakfast, Adams described the allegations as “barefaced lies” and explained that the nature of the ticketing system made the claims implausible.
“People told barefaced lies that the tickets were being sold at a supermarket in the US. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t know that the tickets for this World Cup are electronic and not physical tickets,” he said.

His comments come amid growing scrutiny over the government’s handling of ticket distribution after hundreds of Ghana supporters were left outside the stadium during the Black Stars’ group-stage match against Croatia.
The incident triggered widespread criticism, with some fans alleging that tickets intended for supporters had been diverted or sold.
However, Adams maintained that the claims lacked credibility, arguing that the electronic nature of the tickets made the supermarket allegations false.
