Ghana's journey at the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to an end after the Black Stars suffered defeat to Colombia in their Round of 32 encounter at the Kansas City Stadium in the United States.

The Black Stars were beaten 1-0 by Colombia, ending their hopes of reaching the Round of 16 of a World Cup for only the second time in the country’s history.

Colombia’s Jhon Arias gave his side the lead when he arrived completely unmarked to sweep home a cross from the right by Luis Suárez to the back post for the opener in the 14th minute.

The goal came just a minute after both teams were forced into early changes, as Colombia’s Jhon Córdoba and Ghana’s Marvin Senaya went off injured inside 13 minutes.

Colombia dominated the game in the first half, with the Black Stars failing to record a single shot on target before the half-time whistle.

The second half started in a similar fashion, with Colombia danger man Luis Díaz firing wide and returning Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi making a stunning stop to deny Johan Mojica’s header.

Luis Díaz finally got the ball into the back of the net, but his goal was ruled out after a VAR check ruled him offside.

As the game wore on in the second half, Colombia’s attacking threat diminished as the Black Stars probed for long periods but could not find a way through Los Cafeteros’ backline.
