‘We’ve beaten France twice, they should fear us’ – Lamine Yamal warns

Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal has declared that the national team is ready to face France without fear, contrary to claims in some media reports.

La Roja defeated France in the 2024 UEFA European Championship in a fiercely contested nine-goal thriller, prevailing 5-4 before going on to lift the trophy.

Spain also beat Les Bleus in the 2025 UEFA Nations League semi-final, giving them an edge over the star-studded French side.

Speaking ahead of Spain’s semi-final clash against France, Yamal insisted that his team has already proven their dominance over their opponents and therefore has no reason to be intimidated, despite France’s strong performances in the competition.

The Barcelona star emphasized that if any team should be fearful, it should be France, given Spain’s track record in previous encounters.

“I am looking forward to playing France. We don’t fear France. Perhaps they should fear us. We knocked them out before in two semi-finals [at Euro 2024 and the 2025 Nations League],” he told the media after Spain defeated Belgium 1-0 to progress to the semi-final.

Spain is aiming to win their second World Cup title since their triumph in 2010, while France is seeking a third title to further cement their legacy at the tournament.
