The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz earns $80,000 as his monthly salary.

There had been reports suggesting that the coach was earning $100,000 following his appointment by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

This prompted some sports journalists and concerned individuals to call on the minister and other stakeholders to make the figures public for transparency.

Addressing the concerns after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the minister clarified: “Carlos Queiroz earns $80,000 a month and not $100,000 as speculated.”

He further disclosed that the late dismissal of former Black Stars coach Otto Addo was a worrying development heading into the tournament.

Adams stated that if he had possessed the sole authority to make the decision, he would have dismissed the former Borussia Dortmund scout earlier, giving the new coach enough time to settle and prepare for the competition.

“If the decision were mine alone, I would have sacked Otto Addo much earlier during the qualifiers,” he said, as reported by TV3.

The Black Stars were eliminated from the World Cup in the Round of 32 after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia, a disappointing result for many Ghanaians despite the late change in coach.

Reports indicate that the GFA is set to extend Carlos Queiroz’s contract to oversee the team’s qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
