This triggered wild reactions from football fans on social media, with some alleging it was a planned moment by FIFA to honour Argentina, presuming they would win.
Others claimed that since many officiating decisions appeared to favour the Albiceleste, the fireworks were a symbolic gesture by organisers to recognise Argentina.
Despite the allegations, it is worth noting that pyrotechnics are typically set up days before the final and often use neutral colours.
In previous World Cup tournaments, FIFA has traditionally used gold and white fireworks during the crowning moment to mimic the colours of the World Cup trophy.
