Prominent government personalities will grace the 2026 Women’s Democracy Cup between Ghana Army and Ghana Police on August 28, 2026.

The match, which will be played at the McDan Park in Labadi, will see the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, in attendance to witness the historic event.

Another key figure in government, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Vice President of Ghana, will also be present to show her support for the ladies.

Several distinguished guests are expected, including women leaders in Parliament, the Chairpersons of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Electoral Commission of Ghana, as well as members of the diplomatic corps.

Other top personalities in governance, and the sporting fraternity are also expected to throng the field to witness such a game for the first time.

The Women’s Democracy Cup forms part of the broader Democracy Cup Project, which comprises three flagship competitions: the Democracy Youth Cup, the Women’s Democracy Cup, and the main Democracy Cup fixture between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, scheduled for August 23, 2026, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Organisers noted that the Women’s Democracy Cup will become an annual competition aimed at celebrating the contribution of women to Ghana’s democratic development. It will also provide a high-profile platform for women’s clubs to showcase their talent, competitiveness, and contribute to the continued growth of women’s football in the country.
