Asante Kotoko players have been warned that they must seek permission from the club before participating in certain social media activities, including TikTok and dance videos.
Addressing the team in a video shared by Asante Kotoko, the club’s Brands and Partnerships Manager, David Obeng Nyarko, explained that players have handed over their image rights to the club and must therefore comply with its commercial guidelines.
“You need permission to do TikTok Live. Because, like I told you, you’ve given us your image rights. So, before you do dance videos, you need permission,” Nyarko said.
He added that the restrictions also apply when players are visibly associated with the club’s brand.
“In a Kotoko apparel, in a Kotoko bus, you need permission,” he added.
Nyarko further revealed that even seemingly minor details, such as what a player wears while representing the club, could fall under the club’s branding requirements.
“If you’re wearing a hat and the hat is not a Kotoko-branded hat, you have to take it off,” he said.
The club is currently in Accra as part of its preparations for the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with the team stepping up its training and organisational activities ahead of the new campaign.
