Medeama Sporting Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko has stated that he is willing to take over the Black Stars coaching role if given the opportunity.

According to him, he is ever-ready and well-prepared to assume the mantle should the Ghana Football Association (GFA) reach out to him about the position.

“If the Black Stars coaching opportunity comes and the authorities believe I’m the right man for the job, why not?” Tanko told Asempa FM.

Carlos Queiroz, who signed a four-month deal in April 2026, is expected to leave the role when his contract expires in August 2026, unless an extension is agreed.

The Portuguese coach guided Ghana to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but negotiations over a new deal have reportedly stalled amid disagreements over his demands.

The GFA is said to be locked in talks with Queiroz, with negotiations at a stalemate as the coach is reportedly demanding a $150,000 salary.

This has triggered the FA to begin searching for a new coach while continuing discussions with Queiroz, with several names emerging in the process.

Current assistant coach Desmond Offei is also reportedly being considered for the role as the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers approach in September 2026.
