'Why should I pay commercial duty to clear items for the national team?' - Armstrong asks

Head of Public Relations and Strategy at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, has questioned why the association pays commercial duty when clearing equipment meant for the Black Stars.

According to Mortagbe, although the GFA is a private entity, the items are imported for a national purpose.

“Why should I pay commercial duty to clear items for the national team?” he asked.

“If you call yourself a football nation, then legislation should be moved to support that football nation context,” he added.

He stated that the issue has existed for years and called for more deliberate policies to support Ghana football.

Among the items in question, he cited football boots, bibs, jerseys, and other essential equipment.
