Mikel Arteta has committed his future to Arsenal after signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030.

The 44-year-old Spaniard’s previous deal, signed in September 2024, was due to expire next summer, but he has now agreed to extend his stay with the Premier League champions.

Arteta, who was appointed Arsenal manager in 2019, has transformed the club’s fortunes during his tenure, guiding the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season.

The Spaniard had previously led Arsenal to three consecutive second-place finishes before finally ending the club’s long wait for the league crown.

He also guided Arsenal to only the second Champions League final in the club’s history, although they lost the final on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain.

Arteta has also won the FA Cup and three Community Shields during his time in charge.

"It's a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal. This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue," Arteta said in a statement.

Arsenal chief executive Richard Garlick also added that the club wants to make history with the former Spain midfielder.

"This is an important time in Arsenal Football Club's history. We want to create a winning era together with Mikel,” he said.
