Ghanaian forward Prince Ampem continued his impressive scoring run in the AFC Champions League Elite, netting Shanghai Port’s opener in a 1-1 draw against South Korean side Daejeon Hana Citizen on Tuesday.

Ampem broke the deadlock four minutes after the restart, capitalising on a defensive error to put the Chinese Super League champions ahead in the league-phase encounter.

However, Shanghai Port’s advantage lasted only five minutes, with Daejeon responding through Diogo Oliveira to secure a share of the spoils.

The goal was Ampem’s fourth in just two continental appearances this season, underlining his growing importance to Shanghai Port following his loan move from Turkish club Eyüpspor.

The Ghanaian had previously grabbed the headlines with a first-half hat-trick against Ratchaburi FC, establishing himself as a key attacking threat in the competition.

His latest contribution takes his tally to nine goals and three assists in 26 appearances for Shanghai Port across all competitions in the 2026 campaign.

Ampem’s scoring form offers Shanghai Port an attacking boost as they balance their domestic commitments with their continental ambitions.

Despite being unable to secure all three points against Daejeon, the 28-year-old’s continued influence in front of goal provides encouragement for the Chinese side as the AFC Champions League Elite campaign progresses.
