Ghana’s Amputee Football Team head coach, Stephen Richard Obeng, has stated that winning the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico would be one of the greatest achievements of his coaching career.

Obeng believes Ghana’s dominance on the African continent is an important step towards achieving success on the world stage, stressing that the team is determined to prove its quality against the best teams in the world.

“Winning the World Cup is something every coach would desire to have,” he said, describing Ghana’s participation in the tournament as a great privilege and an opportunity to make the country proud.

The coach acknowledged the challenge of competing at the global level, noting that Ghana’s status as a continental champion would make the team one to watch.

He, however, insisted that the players must remain focused and approach every game with the seriousness of a final.

“We are not just dominating in Africa. Going into the World Cup, everybody expects a continental champion not to come easily,” Obeng stated.

Obeng also highlighted the importance of preparation, revealing that he had been working on his own development and the team’s physical readiness ahead of the competition.
