Didi Dramani has backed the appointment of Kim Lars Björkegren and the interim Black Stars technical team, describing the coaches as capable of helping restore stability to the senior national team.

The former Black Stars assistant coach believes the technical team has the experience and quality needed to guide the team but insists that Ghana must establish a sustainable football system to achieve long-term success.

“He's a high-level coach who has the ability, and the people to assist him are also high-level coaches,” Dramani said.

While acknowledging the leadership's decision to appoint the interim technical team, Dramani stressed that Ghana's football challenges cannot be solved through coaching changes alone.

He argued that the country needs a clear football structure that determines how coaches are appointed, players are selected and the national team is developed, rather than allowing individual interests to influence decisions.

“It's not the human beings who decide what they want to. It's the system that decides what the human being has to bring in and then to direct,” he explained.

Dramani cited Spain and Germany as examples of countries that have benefited from structured football systems, stressing that Ghana must adopt a similar approach to ensure consistency in its national team management.

According to him, Ghana must also establish a clear pathway for player selection to reduce public disagreements over which players deserve to represent the country.

Dramani further urged football authorities to use Ghana's failure to qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as an opportunity to address the underlying problems within the game.

“We need to create success by being deliberate. Once you are deliberate, then you can create a consistency around it. This will bring about sustainability,” he added.

He also questioned the effectiveness of repeatedly changing coaches without addressing the structural challenges affecting the Black Stars.

“Look at the number of coaches that have gone out. Have we solved their problems?” he asked, emphasising that reforms must extend beyond the technical bench to cover the entire football industry.
