Sports Writers To Elect Officers On October 4th

Accra,(Greater Accra Region) 29, Sept. The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) will go to the polls on Saturday, October four, at SWAG Club House, Dansoman, in Accra. Announcing this in Accra today, Mr K. B. Wood, SWAG's Electoral Officer, said when nominations closed at the weekend, it was only Mr Joe Aggrey, the incumbent president, who had filed his nomination papers for the post. Mr Aggrey has therefore been returned unopposed. Mr Ebo Quansah of the ''Ghanaian Chronicle'' was also returned unoppposed as the Vice- President. Mr Stanley Twum Barima of the ''Statesman'' and Mr George Martinson of the ''Christian Messenger'' have also been returned unopposed as executive members. Mr Wood said Mr Emmanuel Amoako of the ''Daily Graphic'' and Mr Kwabena Yeboah of ''Africa Sports'' are contesting the post of secretary. Mr Christian Abbew of the New Times Corporation and Mr Sammy Heywood Okine of ''People and Places'' will fight for the office of Assistant Secretary. Mr Kwesi Brew of the Ghana News Agency, Mr Adu Kwebena-Essem of Vista Communications and Mr Sammy Aduagyei of the New Times Corporation are contesting the office of Treasurer.
