National team star John Paintsil hopes to finally tie down a new club deal within two weeks, the defender has exclusively told All Sports. Paintsil has of course left English Premier League side Fulham following the non-renewal of his contract and the defender has been endlessly linked to a number of clubs across Europe, with some even saying the new European football season could begin with the Ghanaian still chasing clubs. But Paintsil has revealed to All Sports that a deal is in the offing within a fortnight.

“Everything is moving well. I have a lot of offers on the table and my agent is working on it and will choose the best, two more weeks. I will never be clubless, everything is well and very soon before the league starts I will sign for the club of my choice. Two more weeks and everything will be sorted out,” Paintsil told All Sports on Tuesday at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

The Black Stars first choice right back has also rubbished media reports that he has earmarked next year’s African Cup of Nations as his international swangsong. He says he can’t believe it himself rumours that he plans to quit the national team in 2012.

“It’s one million times a lie, I have no idea where this is coming from, I’m surprised. I’m not retiring yet, I’m just 30 years old and still got a lot to offer my country,” he shrugged aside the suggestion.
