The Ministry of Sports on Saturday announced that the Champion of Champions match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday had been postponed.

A statement signed by Mr Joe Aggrey, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, said the decision followed a final security inspection of the Stadium on Saturday.

It said earlier indications were that the rehabilitation works at the North Wing of the Stadium would be completed for the match.

The statement said all efforts would be made to reschedule the match, which was part of activities planned to mark the 45th independence anniversary.

One hundred and twenty-six fans died in a stampede on May 9 last year, when police fired teargas into the Ade Coker stands when some fans started throwing missiles onto the field.
