Jordan Ayew is desperate to play a part in the Black Stars' quest for a fifth African Nations title when the competition begins next month.
Ghana are four-time champions and would be hoping to add another title to their collection when they begin the competition from Group D, where they are paired with Botswana, Guinea and Mali.
The 20 year-old Olympique Marseille attacker was named in Ghana's 25-man pre-competition squad which will be pruned to 23 by the time the finals kick off in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on January 21.
Within the past six months, Jordan has developed sufficiently to gain a place in Goran Stevanovic's squad. The youngster, who made the squad together with brother, Andre, in an interview with MTNFootball.com insists he so keen to cement his place.
“I have worked very hard this six months to be part of the squad and I did a very good work for the half of the season,” Jordan said.
“The Ghanaian fans are watching the Ligue 1 and I think it is my hard work which is now paying off so I must continue like this."
His form for club, Marseille, makes an interesting reading. He's scored twice in 13 games so far and played in three Champions League matches for the French side.
As he prepares for the Nations Cup, he is aware of the level of competition for places but he is eager to make an impact.
“It’s my first Nations Cup so I can’t tell you much but I think if I’m going to a tournament, it is to have playing time and some experience.
“So we will all go and give our 100 per cent,” he said.
