Ex-Black Stars Sarfo Gyamfi says juju has always been prevelant among players of the Black Stars but says he is shocked at reports that rival players used it against each other.

The former Asante Kotoko and Ghana midfielder who has often argued on a player's right to practise what they believe in has therefore urged the Ghana Football Association to tackle the divisions emerging on those grounds as quickly as possible.

Gyamfi claims players indulge in juju for luck and protect themselves but never against their fellow players.

"It has always happened at but players have used it to protect themselves and normally in search of luck. I have never heard of a situation when players have used it against their own colleagues. That is a very bad situation", Sarfo Gyami says.

The issue of juju and football has become a major talking point in Ghana football after Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic claimed in his report to the Ghana Football Association that players used black magic against each other during the Nations Cup.

"After losing to Zambia, there arose so many accusations amongst the players during my meeting with them. I have learnt great lessons from African football and also about Ghanaian players' behaviour on and off the field," Stevanovic said in the report.

"We all need to help in changing some players' mentality about using black power to destroy themselves and also make sure we install discipline and respect for each other."
