Ghana FA (GFA) executive committee member Randy Abbey says new Black Stars assistant coach must consider leaving his post as Kotoko head coach.
Konadu, who is the head coach of one the big clubs in Africa, was named the deputy to Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah last week.
But the GFA will allow Konadu to keep his post as Kotoko head coach after leading them to win the league title.
Even though Konadu will not be coaching Kotoko during Black Stars matches as the league is normally on break when the full national team plays, Abbey says combining the two tasks will be daunting.
“Having served on the FA for some years and seen coaches come and go, I know how huge the national team job is,” Abbey told Multi TV.
“Kotoko is also a very big club. These two need constant attention. It would be impractical for him to do both. They two are huge brands that need special care.”
This is not the first time that a coach has held two jobs. Recently legendary Jones Attuquayefio coached Hearts of Oak and the Black Stars.
Meanwhile, experienced coach EK Afranie has hailed the appointment of Konadu as the assistant to Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.
This will be the second time he will be working together with Appiah after winning Gold with the Black Meteors team at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo.
According to coach Afranie, the partnership of the former Black Stars players will yield dividends.
“It will be a good pair since they have already worked together before,” Afranie said. “Their partnership will definitely produce the results we have all been looking for.”
