Bashir Hayford is set to be appointed as the head coach of the National Women’s team, the Ghanaian media have reported on Tuesday.

The Medeama trainer is expected to replace Kuuku Dadzie, who could return to his previous post with the Under-20 female team.

Dadzie’s position has come under intense scrutiny after he failed to qualify the Black Queens to the 2012 African Women’s Championship in Equitorial Guinea.

There has been a growing belief inside football’s ruling body that Hayford is the right man to turn around the downward spiral of the Black Queens.

The former Asante Kotoko trainer appears to be the choice of the Ghana Football Association and could be confirmed in the coming weeks.

He is gaining credibility within the FA Circles after guiding Medeama to the top of the Ghana Premier League.

Over the last couple of years Hayford’s name has often been mentioned as a potential candidate for any of the national team jobs without him ever gaining a real upsurge of support, but that appears to be changing now.
