Ghana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) President, Ambassador Ray Quarcoo last Thursday presented boxing equipment to ten boxing clubs around the country.

Making the presentation, he said the donation was a token from his German business and sports counterparts and if more equipment arrive, almost all the gyms in the country would benefit.

He urged the trainers of gyms who have not benefited to bear with the GABA. He urged coaches to train amateur boxers the right and best way for them to become worthy champions, than rushing them into the professional ranks with all types of training regimes that are not good for them.

Stephen K. Antwi, Technical Director of the GABA educated the coaches and media present on some new developments in the rules and regulations of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA).

He said AIBA has introduced three tournaments, namely AIBA Open, AIBA Professional, and thev World Series of Boxing.

He announced that a clinic would be held soon to retrain boxers when the funds are available as they are working in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, The National Sports Authority and some sponsors.

According to Ambassador Ray Quarcoo, the boxing clinic which would be a five days event is supposed to sharpen the skills of amateur boxing coaches so that they are abreast with modern trends and also to be conversant with the new rules of the sport.
