Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng believes his dexterity can help improve the status of his new club Rayo Vallecano in next season’s Spanish La Liga.
The 31-year-old was unveiled as player of the Los Franjirrojos on Tuesday.
He signed for the Madrid-based side last month after a frustrating spell at relegated English side Fulham.
Boateng made just three appearances for Fulham in the just ended season, which ultimately cost him a place in the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup.
The Ghana international is making a return to Spain three year after leaving Getafe to sign for Ukrainian side FC Dnipro.
“I am very happy to be here and I will give my best for this club. I’ve known they wanted me since January. I like to have the ball and distribute, so I’m happy to be at this club,” he said at the press conference.
“The manager [Paco] has told me what he needs me to do and hopefully we can make the top ten this evening.”
Boateng has played for so many clubs in Europe including Panathinaikos, AIK Stockholm, Beitar Jerusalem and FC Cologne.
