Malaysian Kelantan side are on the verge of terminating Prince Tagoe’s contract after the Ghana international failed a medical; GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Super League side are seething with rage over Tagoe’s decision to return to his native country after they advised him to stay and restore his level of fitness.

The 28-year-old joined the side in April this year after terminating his contract with Tunisian outfit, Club Africain.

But the Black Stars striker has twice failed a fitness test according to head coach George Boateng, and officials are losing patience with him over his attitude.

The former Hearts of Oak star has failed to report to the team’s camp, and Kelantan football adviser Tan Sri Annuar Moses has revealed they will decide his future in the coming days.

“We allowed him to go but when he returns to Bihar, he must undergo a fitness test,” Annuar said at a breaking of fast hosted by the Centre charity and Social Activities at a hotel in Kota Bharu on Monday night.

“If he fails, the contract may be terminated. Now he is supposed to report for duty, but he has still not come and Kafa will meet to determine the position.

“We can no longer compromise in terms of fitness. We are now entering the Malaysia Cup campaign, there’s no reason, and if we find he failed a fitness test, we have to terminate his contract.”

“He has twice failed a fitness test, and we recommended that he uses a month to restore the level of his fitness, but he made the choice to return to his country,” head coach George Boateng added.

Tagoe is keen to return to the limelight after being left in the cooler for close to two years.

The Red Warriors offered him a lifeline but is now on the verge of being sacked from the club over allegations of fitness and poor attitude.
